Course Description

AP® French is a university level French class designed for fifth year CMIS students to prepare them to effectively communicate at the pre-advanced range (as described in the ACTFL Performance Guidelines for K-12 Learners). Class activities prepare students to engage in all three modes of communication (Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational). Students who enroll in the class are expected to enter with a good grasp of French grammar and vocabulary, and possess well-developed skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking. Through writing and speaking on a wide range of topics, students will expand their vocabulary, develop their writing style in French, and improve their critical thinking skills—all in the target language. As a result of this class, students will demonstrate an understanding of Francophone cultures around the world, will compare and contrast their native language(s) and culture(s), our international / Thai cultures and the French language and Francophone cultures, will make connections with other classes and disciplines, and will use French in real-life settings.
