The grade 8 computer class began the year with an exciting engineering project to design towers measuring at least 20cm tall, using only 20 pieces of spaghetti and 30 mini marshmallows. Students experimented with different structures to determine which ones were able to handle the greatest amount of load. Students used the engineering design process to plan, build and test their structures and were then given a chance to build them a second time to improve on their design. Their experiments helped them to understand the effects that compression and tension forces have with respect to the strength of structures.

Grade 3B is learning all about the 7 continents! Students worked in small groups to read and research important information about their assigned continent. They worked together to gather information about size, location and significant attributes.
