Each January, we begin the process of assessing our projected number of vacancies and asking our current students to confirm their plans to continue with us for the following year. At that time, we begin accepting applications and conducting entrance assessments to identify our qualified applicants. Once we have confirmed the number of projected vacancies, we will begin selecting our new students around late April or early May. Assessments for the 4 y.o. Pre-School program may be delayed until May, in order to give the most accurate representation of the child’s developmental level in preparation for August enrollment.
Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year, but they will be reviewed and processed as follows:
- Pre-School: Applicants will be accepted any time after January. Our CMIS Pre-School and Kindergarten are full-day programs, which run from 7:40 AM to 2:40 PM. Children must have passed their fourth birthday by the start of the school year in August in order to be considered for that year’s Pre-School program.
- Kindergarten, and Grade 1: We begin accepting new applications in January for the school year that begins in August. Kindergarten assessments will be scheduled for February and March.
- Grades 2 – 12: Applications should be made from February through June. Assessments will be scheduled as as long as there are suitable vacancies available.
Our school has a closed semester policy for Grades 6 to 12, which means that the intake of new students in those grades occurs only twice a year – at the beginning of each semester (in August and January). We will begin accepting applications for second semester (January) enrollment in October of the current year.
We will continue accepting applications for Elementary School (Pre-School through Grade 5) throughout the year, as long as we have space available. All applicants must have passed their required birth date by the start of school in August in order to be considered for that year’s enrollment. This standard remains the same for those who wish to join in the second semester.
Second Semester Enrollment
For Middle School (Grades 6 through 8) and High School (Grades 9 through 12), all applications must be received and processed in time for students to begin promptly at the beginning of the semester; no later than the second week in September or the third week in January. Second semester applicants should apply during the months of October and November.
A special exception is made for those applicants who are applying from abroad and who would like to start at CMIS upon arrival in Chiang Mai; these students may apply at any time throughout the year. However, grade level placement and the number of credits received will be contingent upon completing the required number of academic days and the full course of study. In some cases, mid-semester High school applicants may be enrolled in an auditing status for the remainder of the current semester, and then allowed to take courses for credit at the beginning of the next semester.
