CMIS Assessment Policy

We believe that grades are a symbol of learning and are used to communicate to students and parents the degree of learning that a student has demonstrated. 

CMIS Teachers:

  1. Understand the difference between assessment and reporting/grading 
  2. Assess the standard only 
  3. Allow students to retake summative assessments, when appropriate 
  4. Provide students with a variety of assessment types
  5. Provide a balance of assessment types 
  6. Differentiate their assessment products when possible
  7. Provide a space for students to productively “fail” and take risks that do not affect their grade
